Mobile store checklist: make shopping easier
Test navigation, variants, cart and forms on a small screen. A hands-on checklist for problems that desktop previews can easily miss.

A responsive layout is only the beginning of mobile usability. A page can fit the screen while a keyboard hides a button or a banner blocks the cart. Test complete tasks on a real phone.
Navigate to a product
Start without a saved session. Open the menu, select a category and apply a filter. Check whether returning from a product preserves a clear sense of location. Long labels should not overlap close controls, and search needs an understandable empty state.
Use the product page with one hand
Try long names and several variants. Price and availability should stay understandable after selection. Controls need a comfortable clickable area. Sticky purchase buttons must not cover the final content or error messages.
Test cart and forms
- Add an item and change its quantity.
- Enter an invalid discount code.
- Use autofill, then remove a required value.
- Rotate the device.
- Return from an external test payment.
Errors should preserve valid input. Submitting controls should show progress and prevent accidental duplicate submission.
Check accessibility
Try larger text and keyboard navigation. Form labels must remain understandable after typing. Do not communicate errors only through colour. Dialogs need usable close controls and a logical return to the previous context.
Record reproducible failures
Note the device, browser, URL and steps. “The total does not update after selecting medium and increasing quantity to two” is more useful than “the cart is broken”. Repeat the failing scenario after a fix, then complete a normal test purchase. Use simulation as a supplement to real-device testing.
