How to write an AI brief for a better store design

“Make a beautiful store” leaves most decisions to AI. A useful brief reduces guesswork and gives you a concrete way to evaluate the result.

Describe the business first

Provide the products and categories, intended customer, real differentiators, main action and available source materials. Then describe colours, typography and mood. Explicitly identify missing information so the model does not invent reviews, certificates or delivery promises.

A sample brief for a ceramics store

Create a home page for a ceramics studio selling small batches of mugs and bowls. Customers buy gifts and everyday objects. The primary action is to explore the mug collection. Use a warm background, dark text and large photographs from the supplied assets. Include a hero, two categories, featured products, the studio story and delivery information. Do not invent reviews, prices or lead times. Flag missing facts. Keep the mobile layout readable.

Revise in a clear sequence

Review structure and meaning before adjusting spacing and colour. Replace “this looks wrong” with a specific request: “Reduce the first section's mobile height while keeping its heading and button visible”. Change one area at a time so you can tell which revision helped.

Separate presentation from store data

A convincing product card does not prove that prices, stock and variants are connected correctly. Check an actual product, cart and test order after significant changes. Preserve a working version before editing code. For Nano AI, consult the current editor and plan for available actions.

Evaluate the finished page

Ask someone unfamiliar with the brand to find a product and explain delivery. Record where they hesitate. This is more actionable than asking whether the design feels modern. Remove all placeholders before publishing.
